What IT support buyers actually search for

Content Marketing · 18 July 2026 · 6 min read · Tech Website Pro

An MSP ranking first for "managed IT services" is not necessarily winning. Half of that traffic is other MSPs, students and vendors. The enquiries come from narrower, less glamorous queries.

Group one: local and urgent

"IT support Manchester", "emergency IT support near me". Low volume, high intent, decided in minutes. These need a fast-loading local landing page with a phone number, coverage area and response promise above the fold.

Group two: problem-aware

"Cyber Essentials certification help", "Microsoft 365 migration cost", "why is our server so slow". The buyer knows the symptom, not the supplier. Answer the question fully on a dedicated page and place a soft call-to-action mid-article, not just at the end.

Group three: comparison

"Best MSP for law firms", "co-managed IT vs fully managed". This is where sector pages and honest comparison content win. If you serve a niche, say so in the page title — it is the single highest-leverage SEO change most IT consultancies never make.

  • One page per sector you genuinely serve
  • One page per compliance framework you support
  • Internal links from each to the matching service page
